When you attempt to earn your living by driving free traffic to you web site, there'll be a hard path ahead of you. While AdWords marketing can drive visitors to your site in a rush, it can also devour the majority of your sales if you're not careful.

The miserly path of organic search engine optimization takes a lot of patience. Albeit there are small victories as you move along, yet it is usually many weeks if not months before there is any impressive traffic on your main keywords from the search engines.

I don't know if you relate to this, but I become discouraged when I can't quickly see my results. I am so accustomed to tracking two specific stats which are all but nonexistant for new sites. These stats include unique visitors and clicks on my ads.

If I am to keep playing this SEO strategy, I must begin tracking my progress using different stats. These stats include pages indexed and number of sites linking to you. Both of these stats will lead to good keyword ranks, but this will not be immediate. In the meantime I will just be happy as I see my pages indexed and backlinks get larger every day.

I created a PHP script to help me do just this. You enter all the site you want to track. You can even track article titles to understand how far and wide your article is appearing on the Internet. Each day I simply click the "Update Stats" button and it finds the most current numbers for all of my sites and articles. It even records the data each day so I can view the progress.

So be encouraged. Whether you use this application or you check these numbers by hand, your promotion work are bearing fruit. It is crucial that you maintain your efforts and find your little victories along the way.
